What this is
SkillTree Academy is a practice app for primary school children. It gives a child questions at their school year and keeps track of how far they have got. It is extra practice, not a school, not a curriculum, and not an assessment — nothing here is a measure of how your child is doing at school, and it should not be used as one.
Who can use it
You need an invite code, and you need to be an adult — the parent or guardian of the children you add. The account is yours, not theirs.
The invite code is a key to the front door. Please do not post it publicly. If it gets out we will change it, which will not affect accounts that already exist.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself, and choose something you have not used elsewhere. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, so tell us at hello@skilltreeacademy.com.au if you think somebody else has got into it. Changing your password signs out every other device, which is the fastest thing you can do about it yourself.
The children you add
You decide who is on the account and what they are called — a first name or a nickname is plenty. You are responsible for the children using it, and you can ask us to remove a child at any time. What we hold about them, and how to get rid of it, is set out in the privacy notice.
What we ask of you
- Use it for your own family’s practice.
- Do not copy the questions out of it or republish them.
- Do not attempt to break into it, overload it, or read other families’ data.
- Do not use it to store anything about a child beyond a name and a school year.
The questions and the artwork
They are ours. You are welcome to use them with your children for as long as you have an account, and that is where it stops — they are not yours to publish, sell, or feed into anything else.
It is early software, and it is free
There is no charge and no payment method on file. In exchange, we promise nothing about availability: it may be unavailable, it may lose data, lessons may change or disappear, and it may stop existing. If it is ever going to stop, we will email you first and give you a chance to write down whatever you want to keep.
If a charge is ever introduced, it will not apply to you without you agreeing to it first.
Ending it
You can stop at any time, and ask us at hello@skilltreeacademy.com.au to delete the account. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break the rules above, and we will tell you why.
Where we stand legally
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using it — but nothing here takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded and are not excluded by anything above.
Changes to these terms
If these change in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app afterwards is how you accept the new version; if you would rather not, ask us to close the account.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Australia.
